North York Astros scored an important 3-0 away victory at Burlington SC to leap into fourth in the standings in a rare and only game in the CSL Tuesday night.

Both teams were reduced to 10 men at the 13 minute mark of the game played at Nelson Stadium in Burlington when Nicholas Lindsay of Burlington and Brandon Wellington of the Astros were both shown the red card following an altercation.

North York took the lead at 23 minutes on a goal by midfielder Jose De Sousa who headed in a cross from the right wing and it was 1-0 at the interval.

The visitors went ahead 2-0 at 49 minutes, a goal by midfielder Igor Pisanjuk and North York continued to have a decided edge during the second half leading to a goal by midfielder Jose Melo who beat Burlington goalkeeper Vladimir Vujasinovic from the penalty spot following a foul in the box. The goal came at the 71 minute for a 3-0 score and it was Melo’s sixth  goal of the season.

The win improved the Astros to a 4-3-3 WLT record for 15 points on the season and moved the Toronto team into fourth position one point behind Burlington, while it was Burlington’s second home defeat in three days after going down 2-1 to London on August 10.
