Serbian White Eagles continue on top of the First Division with a 2-0 victory over Brantford Galaxy, Toronto Croatia kept pace with a 5-1 defeat of SC Waterloo, York Region Shooters scored a 2-0 win over Burlington SC and London City were held  to a scoreless draw at home by Brampton City Utd, four games in the CSL First Division Sunday.

The Milton SC B vs Toronto Atomic B Second Division game was abandoned after 23 minutes due to thunderstorms, and severe weather with high winds also caused several disruptions during the SC Waterloo B vs Toronto Croatia B game which was eventually completed following several delays.

Following a scoreless first half, striker Sahjah Reid opened the scoring for Serbian White Eagles against Brantford Galaxy at Lions Park in Brantford, finding the net for a 1-0 lead at the 62 minute mark.

The league leaders increased their lead to 2-0 when midfielder Milos Ljubenovic took a pass from Reid to beat Galaxy goalkeeper Luka Besenic at 89 minutes, the score at the final whistle.

Serbian White Eagles remain on top of the standings with a 9-1-3 WLT record for 30 points, while Brantford Galaxy are at 6-7-0 for 18 points.

Own goals played a part in the Toronto Croatia victory over SC Waterloo, the first from a corner kick by Toronto Croatia which ended  in the back of the net off Waterloo’s Ranko Golijanin for a 1-0 score at the 18 minute mark.

The home side suffered another set-back when defender Nemanja Simeunovic was shown the red card for a foul while preventing a goalscoring opportunity, he was ejected at 37 minutes.

Jure Glavina made it 2-0 for Toronto Croatia at 43 minutes and Waterloo struck just before half-time to reduce the lead to 2-1 on a penalty goal by Adis Hasecic, his 12 of the season – it was 2-1 at the break.

Toronto Croatia increased the lead to 3-1 on a goal by Pero Menalo at 61 minutes, Glavina added his second goal and fifth of the campaign to make it 4-1, and a second own goal at 80 minutes increased the Toronto Croatia lead to 5-1, the final score.

Both Toronto Croatia and SC Waterloo have a 7-4-1 record for 22 points on the season, which places the Toronto team in second position in the standings and SC Waterloo in third.

Richard West opened the scoring at 41 minutes for the visiting York Region Shooters against Burlington SC, his ninth of the season. Following the 1-0 score at the break Adrian Pena made it 2-0 for the Shooters. He found the net at the 57 minute mark for a 2-0 final score.

London City and Brampton City Utd battled to a scoreless tie in London and while there were opportunities for both teams to find the net, both goalkeepers – Vladimir Markotic of London City and and Cristian Montero Velez of Brampton City Utd. kept the opposition off the scoresheet with solid saves.

There were two games played in the CSL Second Division with SC Waterloo B defeating Toronto Croatia B 2-0 in a game interrupted several times by severe thunderstorms, and Serbian White Eagles B scored a 2-0 victory over Brantford Galaxy B.

One game,  Milton SC B vs Toronto Atomic FC B, was abandoned at 23 minutes due to a severe thunderstorm and high winds. Milton SC B were leading 1-0 at the time the game was suspended before being abandoned.  The game will be replayed.

The CSL has announced a rescheduled Second Division game between Toronto Croatia B and Serbian White Eagles B which has been set for Karlovac Park on Tuesday, August 4, a 7 pm kickoff. This game was postponed on June 28.
