York Region Shooters scored their third early season victory with a 1-0 defeat of Serbian White Eagles at Centennial Stadium in Etobicoke, the only game played in the CSL First Division Friday.

It was the third season loss for the 2015 First Division title winners following a 3-0 defeat to Scarborough SC on May 28 and a 1-0 loss to Brantford Galaxy on June 3.

York Region’s Marcos Rodriguez scored the game’s only goal at the 13 minute mark. A cross by Serbian White Eagles’ midfielder Filip Velasevic was intercepted and the visitors moved straight into the attack resulting in Rodriguez finding the net from 15 yards past Serbian Eagles goalkeeper Goran Skaric.

Serbian Eagles showed life in the final 15 minutes in an effort to find an equalizer and there were two opportunities to score, but it was 1-0 for Shooters at the final whistle.
