The CSL Discipline and Appeals Committee handed down decisions on September 21 that affects the outcome of two matches in the league’s First Division.
Serbian White Eagles protested the result of their game of August 27 played at the Cardinal Newman ground, alleging opposition Hamilton City played an ineligible player. The game ended 1-0 in favour of Hamilton City. The protest was upheld and the game awarded to Serbian White Eagles by a 2-0 score.
The committee emphasized that player Timotej Zakrajsek was properly registered by Hamilton City on a transfer to the club from Serbian White Eagles, but certain agreed-to conditions of the transfer were violated and the player was judged to be ineligible to play in the game between the two clubs.
In a second decision, the panel ruled on a game between the Brantford Galaxy and FC Ukraine United played at Lions Park on September 3 which was abandoned at 75 minutes. Brantford led 1-0 at the time the game was stopped. The committee ruled that Brantford Galaxy was responsible for the abandonment and awarded the game to Ukraine United, also by a 2-0 score.
The CSL Discipline and Appeals Committee issued a statement that all rules and procedures must be followed more carefully as the clubs move into the upcoming playoffs and all violations will be considered with a view to applying the prescribed penalties contained in the CSL Rules and Regulations.
