Two goals by midfielder Terry Dunfield salvaged a 3-3 draw for Toronto Atomic in a tough encounter with Scarborough SC in the only game in the Canadian Soccer League Saturday night.

Defender Zdravko Karadachki opened the scoring for Scarborough at Birchmount Stadium, finding the net past Atomic goalkeeper Ihor Vitiv at the 16th minute mark.

Oleksii Zaites tied the game 1-1 for the visitors from the penalty spot following a trip in the box, the tying goal coming at 33 minutes.

Scarborough took the lead at 44 minutes, a goal by forward Aleksander Stojiljkovic and it was 2-1 at the break.

Dunfield struck his first goal at 56 minutes, finding the net past Scarborough goalkeeper Amad Hakura to tie the game 2-2, but the home side took a 3-2 lead at 65 minutes, a goal by forward Kiril Dimitrov.

Dunfield found the net for his second goal of the game and fifth of the season just one minute later, collecting a rebound off the post to slot the ball into the net from six yards for a 3-3 tie. The score remained to the final whistle.

Scarborough remain in second position in the standings with a 8-6-4 WLT record for 28 points, while Toronto Atomic move up to third in the table with a 7-6-6 record for 27 points.

York Region Shooters have secured the First Division title with a 13-2-2 record for 41 points.

 

UKRAINE UNITED RALLY FOR 3-2 VICTORY…..Milton vs Brantford Galaxy scoreless

FC Ukraine United came back from a 2-1 halftime deficit to score two goals in the second half to defeat Hamilton City 3-2, while in an earlier game Friday night in the Canadian Soccer League, SC Milton and Brantford Galaxy played to a scoreless tie.

Midfielder Oleh Kerchu opened the scoring at the 5 minute mark for Ukraine United in the game with Hamilton City at the Cardinal Newman ground and Hamilton’s Frane Grbesa tied the game 1-1 at 14 minutes.

Zdenko Jurcevic found the net past Ukraine United goalkeeper Nazar Lytvyn to put Hamilton in front late in the first half for a 2-1 score at the break.

Ukraine United forward Sergii Ivliev beat Hamilton goalkeeper Adrian Becic to tie the score 2-2 at 51 minutes and Kostiantyn Derevlov struck the winner for the visitors at 77 minutes, 3-2 at the final whistle.

Ukraine United improve to a 7-6-4 WLT record for 25 points for 5 place in the standings, while Hamilton City are at 5-10-4 for 19 points and sixth in the table

It was a well-played even contest with most of the play at midfield and few goalscoring opportunities at the Jean Vanier ground where Milton and Brantford Galaxy played to a 0-0 draw.

Milton has a 4-9-3 record for 15 points in seventh position in the table, while Brantford Galaxy are at the foot of the table with a 2-8-7 record for 13 points.
