BRAMPTON ON WINNING NOTE JUMP TO FAVOURED FOURTH POSITION IN STANDINGS

Brampton City Utd ended their regular season on a winning note with a 3-0 victory over York Region Shooters Wednesday night and in doing so moved into the fourth position in the First Division standings for a home advantage if the team advances to the semifinals in the upcoming CSL Championship playoffs.

Midfielder Andy Garcia led his team with two goals at Victoria Park in Brampton, the opener at 42 minutes when he drove the ball from outside the box  into the top left corner out of reach of York Region goalkeeper Adam Majer — a 1-0 lead at the interval — and the second at 60 minutes when he picked up from a defensive lapse to score from nine yards.

Kevin Omokhua sealed the win with a goal at 77 minutes, a goalmouth scramble which Shooters failed to clear and the Brampton forward promptly put the ball into the net.

The win elevated Brampton with a 15-8-3 record for 48 points and dropped York Region Shooters to eighth position with a 12-8-6 end-of-regular-season record for 42 points.
