EASY VICTORIES FOR CAPITAL CITY AND WINDSOR STARS SATURDAY

Capital City FC won their 14th of the season and five of the last six with a controlling 6-0 defeat of St. Catharines Wolves in the Canadian Soccer League Saturday and in one other game, Windsor Stars also scored a convincing victory, a 5-1 result over North York Astros.


                                        


Midfielder Mahir Hadziresic, who came to the Ottawa team from FK Mlada Boleslav of the Czech Republic, opened the scoring with his first goal in the CSL at 19 minutes and struck again four minutes later to give the home side a 2-0 lead.


 


Hadziresic was also involved when Sullivan Silva scored at 26 minutes, his ninth of the season at the 26th minute mark, a 3-0 score at half-time.


 


Silva scored his second and the Capital City FC fourth goal at 76 minutes when he beat St. Catharines goalkeeper Claudio Perri for a 4-0 lead and it was forward Nate Foster also struck for two goals at 83 minutes, then 91 minutes for a 6-0 final result.


 


With just two games remaining in the regular season, Capital City FC  have a 14-4-6 WLT record for 48 points.


 


St. Catharines Wolves have a 5-13-4 record for 19 points and with just four regular season games remaining the playoff prospects are fading.


 


Windsor Stars took the lead against North York Astros at the 3rd minute mark at Windsor Stadium, a goal by Robert Malasic and Malasic made it 2-0 at the 16th minute mark.


 


Jeff Hodgson made it 3-0 at 24 minutes, a drive from the edge of the box that beat Astros goalkeeper Enea Perego, and Alexander Oran struck for North York Astros at 33 minutes  for a  3-1 score at the interval.


 


Christian Mayorga scored for the home side at 57 minutes, a 4-1 score and midfielder David Kadoic found the net when he drove the ball from just inside the box at 68 minutes to round out the 5-1 Windsor victory.
