Just a single point separates the top four teams in the CSL First Division and all four will see action this weekend. Two of these teams, York Region Shooters and Toronto Croatia come together at the St. Joan of Arc ground at Maple, just north of Toronto on Sunday, while Brampton City Utd are at home to St. Catharines Wolves the same day.
An interesting clash also, sees Kingston FC at home to Serbian White Eagles at the Queen’s West Field on Saturday where the eastern Ontario side has a growing injury list, including league-leading goalscorer with 15 to his credit Guillaume Surot, and key attacking midfielder Catalin Lichioiu. But the club is optimistic these two players will be fit to play.
In Toronto, Astros Vasas FC will be without the advantage of their home ground Esther Shiner Stadium for the game with Burlington SC on Sunday. The ground is undergoing renovation following storm damage on July 8 and the game is moved to Downsview Park with an early kickoff at 12.45 pm.
The improving Astros Vasas is now experiencing the benefit of new signings this season, including Jose Melo, who captained Mississauga Eagles last year and has played for the Canadian U-20 team and is a former academy player at Toronto FC. The Portuguese-born midfielder is aggressive on attack and has a proven goalscoring record
