There were three games played in the CSL First Division during the weekend, the first on Friday night when Serbian White Eagles scored a narrow 2-1 victory over Scarborough FC, this was followed by Saturday’s game when York Region Shooters defeated Brantford Galaxy 2-0 and on Sunday FC Vorkuta fought back from a 2-0 deficit to score twice in the second half for a 2-2 tie with SC Waterloo.
Sunday’s game between Milton SC and Royal Toronto FC was postponed due to ground conditions following heavy rain at the Milton Community Park.
Forward Kiril Dimitrov opened the scoring at 22 minutes for Scarborough SC in the game against Serbian White Eagles at Centennial Stadium in Etobicoke, but the game was tied 1-1 ten minutes later when Serbian Eagles’ midfielder Zoran Pesic found the net past Scarborough goalkeeper Milos Bjurkovic. It was 1-1 at the interval.
Djordjije Jocic scored the winner for Serbian Eagles from the penalty spot at the 74th minute mark following a hand ball called by referee Remi Arbaji, a 2-1 final score at the final whistle.
Following a scoreless first half at the St. Joan of Arc ground at Maple on Saturday, forward Kevin Bryan drove a low ball inside the right post to give York Region Shooters a 1-0 lead at 54 minutes and the prolific Richard West beat Scarborough ‘keeper Stefan Avramovic late in the second half to make it 2-0, the score at the final whistle.
SC Waterloo took a 2-0 lead into the second half on goals by Brazen Jukovic and Vladimir Zelenbaba in the game against FC Vorkuta at RIM Park on Sunday night, but Valovymyr Pidvirnyi struck twice for the visiting Vorkuta for a 2-2 draw.
In the CSL Second Division over the weekend, Brantford Galaxy B scored a decisive 4-0 victory over Serbian White Eagles B, London City B nipped Royal Toronto B 1-0, FC Ukraine United B won 5-2 over Burlington SC B and FC Vorkuta B defeated SC Waterloo B 4-0.
