York Region Shooters continued on their winning way with a 3-0 victory over Toronto Atomic, while in one other game in the Canadian Soccer League Saturday night, Brantford Galaxy and FC Ukraine United played to a 1-1 draw.
Richard West opened the scoring for York Region Shooters after 12 minutes of play at Centennial Stadium in Etobicoke, a tap into an almost open net after Atomic United goalkeeper Vasyl Shpuk was drawn out of position.
Shawn Brown made it 2-0 at 71 minutes for the visitors and midfielder David Guzman beat Shpuk to complete the scoring at 78 minutes for a 3-0 final score.
York Region are now nine wins in succession for a 9-0-0 WLT record for 27 points , leading the First Division by 11 points ahead of second place Scarborough SC.
Toronto Atomic now has a 4-4-2 record and tied for third position with FC Ukraine United with a 4-3-2 record, both teams with 14 points.
Striker Stefan Vukovic opened the scoring for the Galaxy at Lions Park in Brantford, the goal coming at 18 minutes when Vukovic collected the ball on the corner of the penalty box, passed two defenders before driving the ball inside the right post out of reach of Ukraine United goalkeeper Nazar Lytvyn.
It was 1-0 at half-time.
Serhly Serheyev tied the score 1-1 for Ukraine United with a picture goal from 35 yards, taking a pass and driving into the bottom left corner out of reach of Brantford. It was 1-1 at the final whistle.
Brantford Galaxy now has a 2-5-2 record for eight points and in 7th position.
In the CSL Second Division Saturday night Toronto Atomic B defeated York Region Shooters B 3-1 and in one other game, Brantford Galaxy B are at home in Lions Park to London City.
