LATE SCEPANOVIC VOLLEY GIVES SERBIAN WHITE EAGLES VICTORY

Serbian-White-EaglesSerbian White Eagles scored late to defeat visiting Milton SC 2-1 in the only game played in the Canadian Soccer League Friday night.

Milton had most of the play in the early stages at Centennial Stadium in Etobicoke and took the lead with a first half goal started by Adnan Smajic. The Milton midfielder crossed from the left wing to Amir Hosic who found the top right corner of the net out of reach of Serbian Eagles’ goalkeeper Goran Skaric. It was 1-0 at the break.

The home team had more of the play following the interval with recently signed attacking midfielder Djordje Jocic being prominent. Jocic, from the Hungarian First Division, made things difficult for the Milton defence, but it was a a play by defender Radenko Kamberovic who crossed the ball for Milos Ljubenovic to head into the net past Milton goalkeeper Zoran Pusica. The tying goal came at the 58 minute mark.

The winning goal came at 87 minutes when Kamberovic lifted the ball to the far post for Milos Scepanovic to hit a volley against the underside of the cross bar, down and over the line before coming out. The 2-1 Serbian White Eagles lead held to the final whistle.

It’s the second win for Serbian White Eagles and a move up to sixth position with a 2-3-0 WLT record for six points, while Milton are in eighth position with a 1-3-0 record and three points.
