Following a scoreless 60 minutes of play, Serbian White Eagles struck three goals in five minutes to defeat Spanish Future Stars in the opening match at the Ford Centennial Stadium Sunday Jul 21, to be followed by a Toronto Falcons 2-0 victory over Unity FC and Scarborough defeating Hamilton City 3-0 in the late game.
Forward Marko Pavicevic drove a low shot from 10 yards to find the net for Serbian White Eagles at the 60th minute mark, followed by two goals in quick succession at 63 and 65 minutes by Nikola Timotijevic, both goals on a breakaway. Timotijevic also played a part in Pavicevic’s opening goal.
Toronto Falcons continued the strong play shown on July 14 to defeat Serbian White Eagles, and it was defender Oleksandr Viksych who opened the scoring in this game against Unity FC, heading the ball into the net at the 44th minute mark for a 1-0 lead at the interval. Ivan Flores was prominent for Unity FC and came close to tying the game early in the second half, but Falcons’ late substitute Nazar Slobodian increased the lead to 2-0 at 85 minutes, a score that held to the final whistle.
Daniil Roden opened the scoring for Scarborough for a lead at 15 minutes following a free kick on the right wing. A save moved the ball to the six yard line for Roden to drive into the net. Oleksandr Kotsiuba increased the Scarborough lead to 2-0 at 63 minutes and Mohamed El Subah struck in the 90th minute to complete the scoring, 3-0 at the final whistle.
Games move to Esther Shiner Stadium on Saturday, July 27 with Spanish Future Stars vs Unity FC in the opener at 12 noon, followed by Scarborough vs
Serbian White Eagles at 2 pm and Toronto Falcons vs Hamilton City, a 4 pmkickoff.
