MAKOHON HAT-TRICK DRIVES FALCONS TO VICTORY

A hat-trick by Toronto Falcons forward Anatolii Makohon resulted in a 4-1 defeat of Spanish Future Stars, Serbian White Eagles scored a 5-2 victory over Hamilton City and Scarborough retained its position at the top of the standings with a 4-2 win over Unity FC, three games played in the Canadian Soccer League at Centennial Stadium Sunday, September 22.

Makohon opened the scoring for the Falcons at the 20th minute mark and Uzor Somtochukwu made it 2-0 at 35 minutes, the score at the break. Makohon added his second for a 3-0 lead at 55 minutes and completed the hat-trick five minutes later for a 4-0 Falcons  lead. Jordan Sandoval found the net for Future Stars at 80 minutes, a 4-1 result at the final whistle. 

Toronto Falcons, which stands second to Scarborough at the top of the table, has conceded just eight goals in 11 games played during the regular season, the lowest in the league. Spanish Future Stars are sixth in the standings and are eliminated from the CSL Championship playoffs to be played during October by the top four in the final regular season league standings.

Midfielder Petar Planic opened the scoring for Serbian White Eagles at the 16th minute mark and Srdjan Simovic made it 2-0 at 39 minutes. Elton Mario Nyunah beat White Eagles’ goalkeeper Daniel Gosciniak to reduce the lead to 2-1 at 55 minutes, Marko Pavicevic struck for Serbian White Eagles from the penalty spot, the second in the game,  for a 3-1 lead at 60 minutes. Vladimir Strizovic made it 4-1 at 70 minutes, Nikita Markovic scored for Hamilton at the 80th minute mark and midfielder Nikola Timotijevic completed the scoring for Serbian White Eagles at the 85th minute mark, a 5-2 final score at the whistle. Serbian White Eagles are tied on points for third position in the standings.

Erik Hernandez opened the scoring for Unity FC in just two minutes after kickoff. Mohamed el Sabahy tied 1-1 for Scarborough at the 15th minute mark and Vladimir Zelenbaba struck to give Scarborough a 2-1 lead eight minutes later. Wendeil Arauso scored  for Unity at 45 minutes, a 2-2 tied at the break. Alexandre Kaysuiba struck for Scarborough at 75 minutes and Devroy Gray increased the lead, a 4-2 in favour of Scarborough at the final whistle.

Scarborough continue to lead the standings with a superior goal average, tied on points with Toronto Falcons and Serbian White Eagles.

Referee Tomic Milomir  ejected two Scarborough players during the second half, showing a red card to Vladimir Zelenbaba and Amador Torres for Violent Conduct on both occasions.

The final games to complete the regular league season are scheduled for Saturday, September 28 at Esther Shiner Stadium:
