Scarborough held its lead position at the top of the standings with a 3-0 defeat of Unity FC, while Serbian White Eagles also continued its winning way with a 7-1 route of Ameed Canada, two games in an afternoon double header at Esther Shiner Stadium Saturday, September 6.
A highlight was a hat-trick by Serbian White Eagles’ forward Marko Krasic who struck at 32, 65 and 72 minutes in the route of CSL expansion team Aeem Canada, which is now on an eight-game losing streak. Krasic has five goals in the eight regular season games played.
Marko Pavicevic opened the scoring for Serbian White Eagles, a well-placed header out of reach of Aeem goalkeeper Henry SSozi for his third goal of the season, Lukz Glamkovsi made it 2-0 at 15 minutes which was followed by Krasic’s first goal, Damilola Oladipo increased the lead to 4-0 at 37 minutes and Nikola Djurkovic made it 5-0, the score at the break.
Ameed defender Francis Chuks was shown the red card following a second caution at 55 minutes and Yohannes Amare, playing on the left wing scored Ameed’s goal at 58 minutes. This was followed by Krasic’s second and third goals for Serbian White Eagles at 65 and 72 minutes for the 7-1 score at the final whistle.
Marko Prokic scored a spectacular goal to open the scoring for Scarborough at 12 minutes, finding the et from 40 yards over Unity FC goalkeeper Rostislav Stashko out of position while clearing. It was 1-0 at the interval. Petar Dordevic scored from close in to make it 2-0 at 52 minutes and struck a second goal from outside the box at 75 minutes for the 3-0 result.
The end of the regular season games in the Canadian Soccer League will be played on Saturday, September 13 at revised kick-off times. Serbian White Eagles are at home to Unity FC, a 4 pm kickoff, followed by Scarborough vs Aeem Canada at 6pm, both games at Esther Shiner Stadium. The CSL Championship games follow with the semi-finals on Sunday, September 21 at 2 pm and 4 pm, also at Esther Shiner Stadium.
