Toronto Atomic FC took the lead against Serbian White Eagles at Centennial Stadium in Etobicoke when at 22 minutes forward Mykola Voytsekhovskyy took a cross from Olekandr Tomakh to head inside the right post out of reach of the Serbian Eagles’ goalkeeper Goran Skaric and it was 1-0 at half-time.
Serbian White Eagles tied the game 1-1 at 62 minutes when defender Vitomar Jelic headed into the net from 4 yards past Atomic goalkeeper Vasyl Shpuk.
It was a tough physical encounter as the game progressed and at 65 minutes the home side took a 2-1 lead following a free kick from 25 yards which ended up with Sahjah Reid scoring the winner. It was the 7th goal of the campaign for the Serbian White Eagles’ forward and an important one which moved the Toronto area team to a 7-1-3 WLT record for 24 points, five points in front of SC Waterloo in second spot and seven points ahead of tonight’s opposition, Toronto Atomic.
Toronto Atomic FC were reduced to 10 men late in the game when forward Ihor Mihalevskeyy was shown the red card following a second caution.
Striker Jose Goncalves De Sousa continues to find the net for Scarborough SC, scoring the opening goal at 27 minutes at Downsview Park in North York for his 11 of the season, and it was 1-0 at the break.
Nenad Simic equalized for Burlington SC at 87 minutes when he found the net past Scarborough goalkeeper Mladen Kukrika, a 1-1 draw at the final whistle. It was Simic’s 4 goal of the season.
The draw improved Scarborough to a 3-2-6 record for 15 points, tied in 6 position in the standings, while Burlington are at 3-5-3 for 12 points.
