SHOOTERS WIN……….Ukraine United hold on to second place with 1-1 tie Sunday

First Division winner York Region Shooters defeated Scarborough SC 2-0, Ukraine United held on to second position in the table with a 1-1 result against visiting Hamilton City, and a foot of the table clash between Brantford Galaxy and Milton SC also ended in a 1-1 tie, all three games in the CSL First Division Sunday night.

Richard West scored his 13th goal of the season to open the scoring for York Region Shooters  at the St. Joan of Arc Stadium, finding the net past Scarborough goalkeeper Imad Hakura at the 16th minute mark.

York Region midfielder Camaal Reid headed in a cross from the right wing to make it 2-0 at 27 minutes, the score at the break and at the final whistle following a scoreless second half.

It was win number 14 for First Division winner York Region,  a 14-2-3 record for 45 points, while Scarborough SC are in third position in the standings with a 8-7-4 record for 28 points.

Tim Zakrajsek opened the scoring for visiting Hamilton City at the 43st minute against FC Ukraine United for a 1-0 lead at the interval.

Ukraine United midfielder Kostiantyn Derevlov equalized at 48 minutes and the 1-1 tie held to the final whistle.

Ukraine United are holding second position in the standings following the tie, a 8-6-6 record for 30 points, while Hamilton ended its regular season with a 6-10-5 record for 23 points.

Forward Adnan Smajic found the net past Brantford Galaxy goalkeeper Luka Besenic to open the scoring for Milton at 27 minutes at the Kiwanis Field in Brantford. It was Smajic’s  12th goal of the season.

Bojan Stepanovic tied the game 1-1 at the 34th minute mark for the Galaxy, the score at the interval and at the final whistle.

Brantford remain in seventh position in the standings with a 3-8-9 record for 18 points, while Milton are at 4-10-4 for 16 points at the foot of the table.
