UKRAINE UNITED AND ATOMIC PLAY TO 2-2 DRAW SUNDAY

ukranian teamFC Ukraine United and Toronto Atomic FC played to a 2-2 draw in the only First Division match played in the Canadian Soccer League Sunday night.

Atomic forward Alexander Thompson opened the scoring  at the 25 minute mark at the St. Joan of Arc ground in Maple, just north of Toronto,and Ukraine forward Sergii Ivliev headed in from a corner kick to tie the game 1-1 at 43 minutes. It was 1-1 at the break.

Midfielder Oleh Shutov put Ukraine into a 2-1 lead at 53 minutes, finding the net past Atomic goalkeeper Vesyl Shpuk, and the visitors tied the game 2-2 six minutes later on a goal by Ihor Mihelevskyy. It was 2-2 at the final whistle.

Toronto Atomic FC are second in the standings with a 2-1-2 WLT record for eight points, while FC Ukraine United are in sixth position with a 1-2-1 record and four points.

Toronto Atomic are at home to Scarborough SC in their next game at Centennial Stadium on Saturday, June 25, a 7.30 p. kickoff, and FC Ukraine United will host Milton SC at the St. Joan of Arc ground the following day on June 26 at 6:30 pm

There were two games in the CSL Second Division Sunday when Toronto Atomic FC reserves defeated York Region Shooters B by a score of 2-1 and SC Waterloo beat Serbian White Eagles B, 4-1.
