SC TORONTO KEEPS UP BID FOR FIRST DIVISION TITLE, WINDSOR STARS SPARKLE WITH 4-0 VICTORY, WHILE CROATIA VS BRAMPTON AND LONDON VS BRANTFORD FINISH IN TIES

SC Toronto continued their bid for the First Division title win with a late winner against TFC Academy, Windsor Stars sparkled 4-0 at Club Roma in St. Catharines, Croatia and Brampton battled to a 2-2 tie and Brantford rescued their game with a late goal for a 1-1 result at London, games played in the CSL Friday.


 


SC Toronto enjoyed an edge in play at Lamport Stadium, outshooting TFC Academy 11-2 in the first half, but the scoreless first half continued well into the second half until the TFC defence failed to clear their lines twice inside the box at 89 minutes.


 


 Forward Massimo Mirabelli picked up the loose ball and with a left foot drive caught the top left corner of the next for a 1-0 lead, which held to the final whistle.


 


Referee Manuel Orellana dismissed SC Toronto player Domenic Roberts for Violent Conduct in added time.


 


It was SC Toronto’s eighth victory of the campaign and now tied for third position in the standings with 25 points, but with games in hand over the top clubs also bidding for the title.


 


Windsor Stars sparkled at Club Roma with their decisive 4-0 victory over St. Catharines Wolves. Forward Robert Malbasic struck two goals, the first to open the scoring at nine minutes and the second to finish the scoring at 68 minutes.


 


Windsor’s other goals were scored at 56 minutes by midfielder Christian Mayorga and at 63 minutes by Christian Dragoi.


 


Toronto Croatia scored late to tie the game with Brampton City Utd at


Centennial Stadium in Etobicoke, a goal at 84 minutes by midfielder Alex Arbelo..


 


Marin Vucemilovic-Grgic opened the scoring  for the home side at three minutes and Richard West tied the game for Brampton at 42 minutes, a 1-1 score at the interval.


 


Brampton’s Judah Hernandez struck a 25 yard volley to put his side in the


 lead at 48 minutes before Arbelo scored the equalizer.


 


Brampton lost defender Danny Velastegui who was sent off by referee


Richard Oliveira at 92 minutes.


 


London City were heading for a narrow 1-0 win until Brantford tied the


game at 88 minutes at Cove Road in London.


 


Following some early pressure by the home side, London went ahead


at 14 minutes, a goal by forward Younan Samra who held back to avoid


 being offside, then collected the ball to drive into the net, a 1-0 at half-time.


 


Although London hit the post, Brantford looked stronger in the second half,


and missed two chances to equalize before forward Mark Reilly found the


 bottom left hand corner of the net to make it 1-1, the final score.
