SC WATERLOO COLLAPSE UNDER A 7-1 ROUT BY BRANTFORD GALAXY SUNDAY….. Shooters defeat Windsor Stars, TFC blank Astros, while Toronto Croatia with Serbian Eagles and Brampton vs. London both end in ties

SC Waterloo managed to pull back a 2-0 first half deficit to trail 2-1 late in the first half, then collapsed under a five goal scoring spree by Brantford Galaxy to go down 7-1 at their home ground Seagram Stadium in Waterloo.

 

Galaxy forward Jeremy Shepherd opened the scoring at 23 minutes, Christopher Leko made in 2-0 at 34 minutes, Waterloo midfielder Harris Fazlagic cut the lead to 2-1 at 35 minutes and Leko made it 3-1 for Brantford at 39 minutes, the score at half-time.

 

Dave Simpson scored twice for the visitors in the second half, at 59 and 62 minutes for a 5-1 lead, Shepherd added his second goal and Galaxy’s sixth at 69 minutes and Braeden Krampert hit the seventh for a 7-1 final score.

 

 

Ryan James opened the scoring for TFC Academy at the 15^th minute mark at Esther Shiner Stadium in North York, he drove a low shot from 15 yards to beat North York Astros goalkeeper Enea Perego.  Sergo Camargo then made it 2-0 at 36 minutes.

 

TFC were reduced to 10 men when at 75 minutes referee Hassan Rifai showed the red card to Christopher Mennella for ‘serious foul play’ following a dangerous tackle.

 

The Astros pressed during the second half, but were unable to find the net and it was 2-0 when time ran out with the North York side still winless following their sixth game of the campaign.

 

York Region Shooters were full value for their 2-1 away victory at Windsor Stadium, they took a 2-0 lead at half-time on goals by Chris Thomas at the half-hour mark and Matthew O’Connor seven minutes later.

 

Referee Arthur Kobiel dismissed O’Connor and Stephen Ademolu of Windsor Stars at 45 minutes, both players shown the red card following an altercation.

 

Windsor reduced the lead at the 70^th minute mark on a goal by Joel Kabula, but the home side failed to find the net in the late stages and the game ended 2-1 in favour of York Region.

 

Forward Dalibor Mitrovic opened the scoring for London City  at the 10^th minute mark at Victoria Park in Brampton and Milos Scepanovic tied it up at the 25^th minute for Brampton City Utd,  a 1-1 tie at the interval.

 

Jasmin Yas Halkic struck for the visitors at 56 minutes, but Brampton’s David Velastagui tied the score 2-2 at 68 minutes.

 

Mitrovic scored his second goal to give London City a 3-2 lead at 76 minutes, a goal that looked like the winner until Brampton midfielder David Guzman scored off a free kick just before the final whistle to tie the game, 2-2. Guzman drive was low from inside the box to beat London goalkeeper Vladimir Markotic.

 

The Toronto Croatia vs. Serbian White Eagles clash at Centennial Stadium in Etobicoke failed to produce any goals, leaving both teams still undefeated.

 

There was good midfield play throughout and Antonio Ilic in goal for the current CSL champions and Serbian Eagles goalkeeper Milos Dirkovic both looked sound to preserve a scoreless tie.

 

Toronto Croatia remain on top of the First Division standings with a 5-0-2 WLT record for 17 points, while Serbian White Eagles move up to second position with a 4-0-2 record for 14 points.
