Capital City FC and York Region Shooters came through with strong wins in their pursuit of the CSL First Division title Saturday and in one other game scheduled, the Windsor Stars vs. TFC Academy game was postponed due to heavy rains that made the surface unplayable.
Forward Junior Ellis made it 4-0 at 80 minutes, the score at the final whistle.
Capital City FC became the third team to clinch a playoff berth as a result of the win and are in third position in the standings with 44 points from 22 games played. Brantford Galaxy are in ninth position with 27 points.
York Region midfielder Dino Gardener opened the scoring at the St. Joan of Arc ground in Maple when he put the ball past
Des Humphrey increased the lead to 2-0 for the home side seven minutes later and forward Kadian Leckie made it 3-0 at the 36th minute mark.
The score was unchanged at the break and the second half was scoreless for a 3-0 final.
York Region Shooters improve to 41 points from 22 games and remain in fourth position in the standings.
