WILLIAM BEAUGE LEADS CAPITAL CITY WITH TWO GOALS WHILE LONDON AND TFC BATTLE TO 1-1 TIE

Capital City FC secured second place in the CSL standings following a 2-1 victory over North York Astros at Esther Shiner Stadium Saturday afternoon and in one other game in the CSL,  London City and TFC Academy fought to a 1-1 tie at The Cove in London.

 

Capital City FC’s William Beauge led his team with two first half goals, the first at the 30^th minute mark when he headed home a corner kick and the second goal came at 45 minutes when he beat Astros’ goalkeeper Enea Perego from seven yards for a 2-0 lead at the half.

 

The Astros fought back in the second half and were rewarded with a goal at 87 minutes by midfielder Raoof Zamanifar. He drove the ball into the net past Capital City goalkeeper Karl Gouabe for a 2-1 final score.

 

The victory moves Ottawa-based Capital City into the runner-up position, six points below league-leaders SC Toronto and a point up on third place Toronto Croatia.

 

The win completes a weekend double for Capital City following a 1-0 defeat of Serbian White Eagles Friday.

 

Sebastian Arangio took advantage of a defensive lapse after just three minutes to put TFC Academy into the lead against London City, but the home club equalized at 27 minutes when forward Gentian Buzali scored from the penalty spot, the penalty ordered by referee Silviu Petrescu when a London City forward was brought down in the box.

 

TFC pressed early in the second half, but London City had good scoring opportunities late in the game, including a good attempt by Buzali in chipping just wide of the goalpost with TFC ‘keeper Chad Bush beaten. The game ended 1-1.
