ANDRE ORLANDO’S TWO GOALS SETS PACE FOR SERBIAN EAGLES VICTORY SATURDAY

Serbian White Eagles kept their playoff hopes alive with a convincing 3-1 away victory over Niagara United at the Kalar Sports Park at Niagara Falls, the only game in the CSL First Division Saturday.
It was a come-from-behind second half defeat with forward Andre Orlando setting the pace with two goals to swing the game in favour of Serbian White Eagles.
Niagara forward Keith Makubuya opened the scoring for the home side at 32 minutes when he headed a cross from Andy Tiedt to find the net past Serbian Eagles’ goalkeeper Scott Cliff. It was 1-0 at the interval.
Orlando scored his first of two goals for the visitors at 60 minutes, heading in a right wing cross from Kiril Dimitrov and five minutes later the Toronto player made it 2-1 for Serbian White Eagles by taking a cross from the right wing to drive the ball past Niagara goalkeeper Brad Gemmell. The goals were the first this season for Orlando.
Niagara fought to get on even terms, but Serbian Eagles’ captain Vitomar Jelic made sure of the victory by heading in a corner kick at 75 minutes for a 3-1 final score.
Serbian White Eagles improve to a 5-10-1 WLT record for 16 points in ninth position in the standings and continue to have an opportunity to clinch a playoff spot as one of the top eight in the table at the end of the regular season.
Niagara United are at 2-13-3 for nine points.
There were two games in the CSL Second Division Saturday with Niagara United B and Serbian white Eagles B playing to a 4-4 draw and St. Catharines Wolves B defeated Toronto Croatia B 3-2.
