FC UKRAINE UNITED BACK ON TOP FRIDAY WHILE DEY LEADS HAMILTON CITY TO VICTORY WITH A HAT-TRICK

A hat-trick by midfielder Sani Dey led Hamilton City to a 4-3 victory over Serbian White Eagles, and in one other game in the Canadian Soccer League Friday, FC Ukraine United struck a second half winner from the penalty spot to defeat Real Mississauga 2-1.

Serbian White Eagles went ahead 1-0 at 3 minutes, a goal by defender Radenko Kamberovic in the match at Centennial Stadium and 10 minutes later the home side went 2-up with a goal by forward Luka Bojic.

Hamilton City cut the lead to 2-1 with a goal at 24 minutes by Lucas Raposo who found the net past Serbian Eagles’ goalkeeper Goran Skaric and that was followed at 26 minutes by Dey’s first of three goals for Hamilton and it was 2-2 at the break.

Dey scored second at 75 minutes and completed his hat-trick at 89 minutes to increase his season tally to 9 goals while giving the visitors a 4-2 lead.

Serbian Eagles’ defender Branislav Vukomanovic beat Hamilton goalkeeper Stefan Avramovic at 92 minutes to cut the score to 4-3 in favour of Hamilton.
Hamilton City moves into fourth position in the standing with a 5-4-0 WLT record for 15 points, while Serbian White Eagles drop to fifth position with a 3-3-3 record for 12 points.

Forward Taras Hromiak opened the scoring at 7 minutes for FC Ukraine United at the Hershey Centre for a 1-0 halftime lead for the visitors against Real Mississauga.

Mississauga’s Brennan McNicol found the net past Ukraine United goalkeeper Oleksandr Popravka to tie the game 1-1 at 75 minutes and eight minutes later following a foul inside the box, Ihor Malysh drove a penalty kick low and inside the right post, a 2-1 winner that held to the final whistle.
FC Ukraine United return to the top position in the standings with a 7-2-2 record for 23 points following the victory, while Real Mississauga have a 2-4-2 record for 8 points in sixth position.

There are two CSL First Division matches on Saturday with SC Waterloo at home to CSC Mississauga, a 6.30 pm kickoff at RIM Park and it’s FC Vorkuta vs Scarborough SC at Esther Shiner Stadium, a 7 pm kick off.

In the Second Division on Saturday, it’s Scarborough B vs FC Vorkuta B, a 1 pm kickoff at the OSA Soccer Centre Stadium, and on Sunday it’s Brantford Galaxy B vs Milton B at Lions Park, that’s a 6 pm start.

The holiday weekend schedule in both divisions

When Serbian White Eagles kickoff against Hamilton City at Centennial Stadium in Toronto’s west end Friday night the immediate vicinity, or perhaps a little beyond, will be well aware a soccer match is taking place.

That’s because the booming, familiar voice of Enio Perruzza will be heard announcing every player taking part and the important statistics and additional information the fans need to know in an event known for many decades as CSL pro soccer.

The game Friday night, August 3, 2018, is number 3,527 for Perruzza since his first time behind the microphone at an official CSL game involving Toronto Blizzard 32 years ago on August 3, 1986.

While the Canadian Soccer League has been Perruzza’s favourite league over the years, announcements and commentary have involved all levels of soccer in southern Ontario. From the academy game to top level professional soccer, from visiting teams such as Benfica from Portugal and Red Star Belgrade from Serbia, to the Italian National Military Team and the Mexican U-20 National Team – which saw many of the players move on to the World Cup – have all been announced locally by the Italian-born Perruzza.

There are dozens of important cup and championship matches, mostly in the CSL, but also 20 Ontario Cup semifinals and 18 finals.
Perruzza, 52, is back in fine voice for Friday’s match following heart by-pass surgery earlier this year. After calling a few warm-up games, the voice of CSL soccer moves into the second half of the season with the playoffs and key championship competition looming large in the coming weeks.

The Serbian White Eagles vs Hamilton City First Division game at Centennial Stadium Friday night, a 7 pm kickoff, starts the Civic Holiday weekend games and will be followed by Real Mississauga vs FC Ukraine United at the Hershey Centre, an 8.30 pm start on Friday. On Saturday it’s SC Waterloo vs CSC Mississauga, a 6.30 pm kickoff at RIM Park and FC Vorkuta vs Scarborough SC at Esther Shiner Stadium. That’s a 7 pm kickoff.

There are three CSL Second Division matches scheduled during the holiday weekend, with Serbian White Eagles B at home to Halton United B, a 9 pm kickoff at Centennial Stadium on Friday, to be followed on Saturday with Scarborough B vs FC Vorkuta B, a 1 pm kickoff at the OSA Soccer Centre Stadium, and on Sunday it’s Brantford Galaxy B vs Milton B at Lions Park, that’s a 6 pm start.

BRAZILIAN VETERANS TEAM OPENS NORTH AMERICAN TOUR AT TORONTO

If you are concerned playing competitive soccer ends in your 30s, take a look at a Brazilian team that’s been playing around the world with players of an age group 45-plus.
Anarqui Futebol & Amigos of Sao Paulo, Brazil’s most populous city and the world’s largest Portuguese-speaking community, plays in that city’s amateur championship and makes overseas tours to a number of countries, mostly in Europe and the African continent, a schedule they have been following for 11 years now.

This year, they have decided for the first time to take on teams in North America and will be playing against a CSL Selects side in the Toronto area this coming Tuesday, August 28.
The Brazilians will kickoff its tour with one game in Toronto, followed by games at Montreal and Quebec City, then Orlando, Florida.

The St. Joan of Arc Stadium at Maple, just north of Toronto, will stage the Toronto area match, kickoff time to be announced.

Clayton Nogueira is head coach of the Anarqui side, which has released its roster for the North American tour: André Rocha, José Amaro, Cesar Luiz, Francisco Coelho, Mauricio Correa, Dair Ferraz, Adahir Fogaça, Carlos Jordão, Luiz Moraes, Luis Amaro, Marcos Arnaldo, Marcos Guzzo, Nestor Barbosa, Antonio Neto, Ronaldo Paiva, Silvio Cesar, Sergio Terreri, Wilson Rodrigues.

SCARBOROUGH HELD TO 1-1 DRAW SUNDAY BY VISITING REAL MISSISSAUGA

Real Mississauga held Scarborough to a 1-1 draw in the only First Division match played in the Canadian Soccer League Sunday.

The visiting Mississauga side opened the scoring at 30 minutes of the game played at Birchmount Stadium in Scarborough when Real Mississauga defender Edmond Badal drove the ball into the corner of the net with Scarborough goalkeeper John Trye well beaten. It was 1-0 at the interval.

There were close calls on the Real Mississauga goal with Scarborough’s Aleksander Stojiljkovic and Kiril Dimitrov striking the woodwork, but it was newly signed midfielder Zoran Knezevic who found the net past Real Mississauga goalkeeper Senad Poracanin, the equalizer coming at the 55th minute mark.

Scarborough continued to press in the late stages, but the score held 1-1 at the final whistle.

The result completed a two-game weekend for Real Mississauga following a 1-0 victory over Serbian White Eagles on Friday night, the Mississauga team now has a 2-3-2WLT record for 8 points in sixth position in the standings, while Scarborough has a 6-2-2 record for 20 points and tied for second position with FC Ukraine United.

Real Mississauga is at home to Ukraine United in the next games for both teams, to be played at the Hershey Centre, Mississauga, on Friday, August 3, an 8.30 pm kickoff. Scarborough’s next match is away to Vorkuta FC the following night on Saturday, August 4, a 7 pm kickoff at Esther Shiner Stadium in North York.

REAL MISSISSAUGA UPSETS SERBIAN EAGLES 1-0

Hamilton City striker Tim Zakrajsek led his team with four goals to a 9-0 drubbing of CSC Mississauga, and in one other game Friday night, an own goal by a Serbian White Eagles defender late In the game gave Real Mississauga a 1-0 victory.

In a game that ended in a downpour at Iceland Field in Mississauga, the visitors struck early when midfielder Krista Glasanovic found the net past Mississauga goalkeeper Fans Efendic almost immediately following the kickoff.
Zakrajsek made it 2-0 with his first goal at the 4th minute mark and added his second for a 3-0 Hamilton lead at 15 minutes. Zakrajsek completed his hat-trick at 33 minutes for a 4-0 score and scored his fourth goal at the 50th minute mark.

Hamilton forward Sani Dey also scored three and a second goal by Glasanovic completed the scoring for a 9-0 result at the final whistle.
The win improved Hamilton City’s record to 4-4-0 WLT for 12 points, tied for 4th position in the standings with Serbian White Eagles, while CSC Mississauga are still winless with a 0-7-2 record in 9th position.

CSC Mississauga team manager Shawn Bhikhu explained his team is not discouraged by the winless streak in its inaugural year in semi-professional soccer.

“ The CSL is a tough league, very competitive, but most of our players from the Hamilton area are stepping up, getting used to it and gaining confidence. And there is still time remaining in the season to get results,” he said near the end of the match.

A fumble in the Serbian White Eagles goalmouth at 81 minutes broke a scoreless tie with Real Mississauga at the Hershey Center. Serbian Eagles defender Branislav Vukomanovic attempted a pass back which eluded goalkeeper Nemanja Radenkovic and the ball entered the net for an own goal giving the home side Real Mississauga a 1-0 victory.

It was a close contest throughout with Real Mississauga coming close to scoring in the first half.
The win gives Real Mississauga a 2-3-1 record for 7 points and a leap to sixth position in the standings, while Serbian White Eagles have a 3-2-3 record for 12 points and remain in fourth position in the table.

Real Mississauga will be playing a second game in a two-game weekend back-to-back by visiting Birchmount Stadium on Sunday for a match with Scarborough SC. Kickoff is 8 pm.

IT’S GOALS THAT COUNT IN BID FOR CSL FIRST DIVISION TITLE

Its goals that count is becoming clearly demonstrated in the CSL First Division where high-scoring Vorkuta FC, FC Ukraine United and Scarborough SC, are beginning to exert some superiority at the top.

Serbian White Eagles in fourth position continue with each game to demonstrate superior defensive strength, having conceded just five goals – the lowest number of goals allowed in the league since kickoff in May. But weakness in front of the net is a big reason for the 2016 CSL champions trailing division leader Vorkuta by 10 points in the bid for the First division title.
While that can change quickly, an early trend stretching past the halfway mark in the campaign is usually a fair reflection of strength and weaknesses to be considered in the drive for the league title and the championship.

Four players with Ukraine United and three with Vorkuta occupy 7 of the top 10 positions in the CSL First Division scoring race, which expresses diversity in their scoring – they don’t appear to depend on one outstanding striker to do the job.

The CSL First Division scoring leader is currently Aleksander Stojiljkovic of Scarborough with 9 goals and is attempting to repeat his goal scoring title winning performance of 2017 when he found the net 17 times.

There are two games in the CSL First Division on Friday when Serbian White Eagles will attempt to increase their scoring at the Hershey Centre in Mississauga against Real Mississauga, an 8.30 pm kickoff, while close by at Iceland Field Hamilton City is visiting for a match at 9 pm against CSC Mississauga.

Vorkuta FC moved two points clear at the top of the table with a 7-1 victory over Real Mississauga, Scarborough SC defeated Brantford Galaxy 4-1 and FC Ukraine United were held to a 1-1 draw at home by SC Waterloo, three games in the CSL First Division Saturday.

Vorkuta midfielder Serhii Ursulenko tapped in a low cross by Iaroslav Solonynko to open the scoring at 13 minutes at the OSA Soccer Center Stadium, and Sergei Ivliev put the ball into the empty net to make it 2-0 after taking a pass from Serhii Ursulenko. It was 2-0 at the break.

Solonynko scored the third goal for Vorkuta to make it Vorkuta 3, Real Mississauga 0 at 50 minutes and five minutes later the returning Oleksandr Lakusta took a cross from Ursulenko to make it 4-0. It was Lakusta’s first game since sustaining an injury two months ago.

Lakusta volleyed to score a picture goal after taking a pass from Maksym Gramm for a 5-0 Vorkuta lead at 60 minutes and with just Mississauga goalkeeper Senad Porcanin to beat, Ursulenko took a rebound to find the top corner of the net for a 6-0 score at the 80th minute mark.

Vorkuta team captain Oleh Kerchu made it 7-0 and Real Mississauga replied with a goal by Krum Bibish who headed in past Vorkuta goalkeeper Oleksandr Musiienko at 88 minutes, a 7-1 score and result at the final whistle.
Vorkuta improves to a 7-1-1 WLT record for 22 points to lead the First Division, while Real Mississauga is in sixth position with a 1-3-1 record for 4 points.

Defender Hammud Ali Atif opened the scoring at Heritage Field following a slip-up in the Brantford Galaxy defence, the goal coming just one minute after kickoff to make it 1-0 for Scarborough, and striker Aleksander Stojiljkovic made it 2-0 for the visitors seven minutes later.
Midfielder Dragan Milovic found the net for Brantford for a 2-1 score at 36 minutes and just on halftime Alen Kucalovic increased the Scarborough lead to 3-1, finding the net past Galaxy goalkeeper Georgi Jovicic off a corner kick.

Stojiljkovic scored a second goal to make it 4-1 for Scarborough at the 80h minute mark, increasing the prolific striker’s season total to 9.
Scarborough has a 6-2-1 record for 19 points and third in the standings, while Brantford Galaxy has a 1-5-1 record for 4 points and seventh in the table.

It was scoreless at half time in the FC Ukraine United 1-1 draw with SC Waterloo at Esther Shiner Stadium and following a 1-0 Ukraine United lead early in the second half, Dzenan Karic equalized for Waterloo at 53 minutes. It was an even contest through to the final whistle.
Ukraine United retains second position in the standings with a 6-2-2 record for 20 points, while Waterloo is in eighth position with a 1-4-1 record for 4 points.

There are three CSL Second Division matches Sunday, with Brantford Galaxy B at home to Halton United B, at Lions Park in Brantford, a 6 pm kickoff, Milton SC B is at home to Serbian White Eagles B at the Milton Sports Centre, a 7.30 pm start and Scarborough SC B is at home to Vorkuta FC B, an 8 pm kickoff at the OSA Soccer Centre Stadium.

The top three teams in the CSL First Division, FC Ukraine United, Vorkuta FC and Scarborough, are in action this coming weekend, a midpoint in the season that goes through to September, leading to playoffs and the CSL Championship in October.

Ukraine United joined Vorkuta at the top of the table with a 7-1 victory last weekend, each has 19 points.

Ukraine United is at home to Waterloo on Saturday, a 2pm kickoff at Esther Shiner Stadium, while Vorkuta hosts Real Mississauga, an 8 pm evening kickoff at the OSA Soccer Centre Stadium in Vaughan.

Scarborough is away to Brantford Galaxy, an 8.30 pm start at the Heritage Field.

A fourth First Division match scheduled for Saturday, Hamilton City vs Serbian White Eagles, has been postponed and will be rescheduled for a future date.

There are three CSL Second Division matches the following day, Sunday, with Brantford Galaxy B at home to Halton United B, at Lions Park in Brantford, a 6 pm kickoff, Milton SC B is at home to Serbian White Eagles B at the Milton Sports Centre, a 7.30 pm start and Scarborough SC B is at home to Vorkuta FC B, an 8 pm kickoff at the OSA Soccer Centre Stadium.

Vorkuta FC B leads the Second Division with 12 points, three points ahead of Halton United B and Scarborough SC B in second and third place respectively.

CSL HOPEFUL OF A SOCCER STADIUM IN MISSISSAUGA

The soccer community in southern Ontario, including the Canadian Soccer League, has for many years encouraged the building of a soccer stadium in the city of Mississauga and recent discussions have led to a decision by Canada’s sixth largest municipality to allocate $100,000 to study the question.

Mississauga, located in the region of Peel and the adjacent Halton region, has for many years been one of the fastest growing areas in Canada for soccer. The Peel-Halton Soccer Association, with a registered outdoor and indoor player population of 83,000, is the largest district soccer association in the country and the Canadian Soccer League has had a strong presence in the municipality going back to the launch of the professional Toronto Croatia team in 1956, with the club’s headquarters in Streetsville for many years.

The long-standing Canadian Soccer League and the Canadian Premier League – first announced in 2013 and with a more recent timeline for kickoff in 2019 – both have an interest in an enclosed community stadium in Mississauga. The CSL presently has teams playing out of nearby community stadiums Centennial Stadium in Etobicoke. Esther Shiner Stadium in North York and Birchmount Stadium in Scarborough.   There are three CSL teams located in Mississauga, one of which uses Centennial Stadium in nearby Etobicoke as its home ground.  There are also CSL teams in Toronto, Hamilton, Milton, Halton Region, Brantford, Waterloo, Scarborough and York Region

Mississauga councilor Dave Cook, who attended the Real Mississauga vs. Hamilton City CSL game on July 6, explained at that time: “Mississauga has approved$100,000 expenditure for a feasibility study to construct a soccer stadium and while previous discussions over the years did not come to fruition, this is a first step and it does look promising,” he said

CSL administrator Pino Jazbec said the possibility of a soccer stadium in Mississauga is an exciting prospect for his league. “Mississauga is a great soccer community with CSL teams based in the city and the consideration of an enclosed soccer stadium would encourage clubs to step up to this level,” he said.

Mississauga submitted a stadium design to the province as early as 1983 and the city considered building a soccer stadium for the 2015 Pan American Games, two of several attempts over the years.

FK Ukraine United jumped on top of the First Division with 7-1 trouncing of Bradford Galaxy and Real Mississauga defeated Hamilton City 2-1 to for the expansion club’s first win of the season in the Canadian Soccer League Saturday night.

Hamilton City opened the scoring at 26 minutes at Heritage Field when midfielder Timotej Zakrajsek found the net past Real Mississauga goalkeeper Senad Poracanin, but the lead was short-lived before midfielder Miguel Angel Chavez Vejar tied the game 1-1, the score at the interval.

Real Mississauga forward Morgan Copeland struck the winner at the 53 minute mark, beating Hamilton goalkeeper Andrly Kulik for a 2-1 score that held to the final whistle.

The victory gives Real Mississauga an improved 1-2-1WLT record for 4 points, tied with Brantford Galaxy in sixth position in the standings while Hamilton City have a 3-4-0 record for 9 points in fifth position in the table.

Roman Datsiuk struck twice for FC Ukraine United in a match which ended the first half in total collapse by Brantford Galaxy, a team down 5-1 at the break.

Goals were also scored by Vitaliy Bohdanov, Nazar Milishchuk, Pavlo Lukianets, Taras Hromiak and Tevhen Falkovskyi, while Galaxy’s lone goal came from the penalty spot, scored by Slavko Knezevic. It was 7-1 at the final whistle.

Milishchuk and Lukianets lead the Ukraine United scoring, each with 6 goals on the season.

FC Ukraine United, a team that won the CSL Second Division title in 2017, moved into the First Division top spot as a result of Saturday’s victory.  With a 6-2-1 record for 19 points, Ukraine United has a superior goal differential while tied on points with Vorkuta FC.

The CSL First Division resumes with four games on Saturday, July 21.

Serbian White Eagles moved up to fourth in the standings with a decisive 6-2 victory over CSC Mississauga, the only match in the CSL First Division Friday.

It was a hard fought encounter from the opening whistle at Iceland Field in Mississauga, with visiting Serbian White Eagles, the CSL champions as recent as 2016 and a long history that included the National Soccer League title in 1974, against CSC Mississauga entering professional soccer as a CSL expansion team this year and attempting to open its account with a first win of the season.

It was the home side that came close first when at 20 minutes Mississauga’s Samyr Remi Oshin drive was saved by Serbian Eagles goalkeeper Nemanja Radenkovic, but the visitors took the lead four minutes later, a goal by Dusan Kovacevic, a thumping header that beat Mississauga goalkeeper Faris Efendic and it was 1-0 at the break.

Serbian White Eagles went up 2-0 at 48 minutes, a goal by defender Branislav Vukomanovic who broke down the left wing to shoot low and hard past the outstretched Efendic and midfielder Djorjije Strunjas increased the lead to 3-0 at 55 minutes, heading into the corner of the net.

Mississauga’s Oshin reduced the lead with a goal at 67 minutes, but a quick reply by Seungkwon Baik two minutes later gave Serbian White Eagles a 4-1 lead. Seungkwon added a second goal at 79 minutes for a commanding 5-1 Serbian Eagles advantage.

A high shot from 30 yards by Mississauga midfielder Danijel Ivanus dipped just under the bar for a 5-2 score at 86 minutes and Serbian Eagles responded with a goal at 90 minutes by Dusan Kovacevic, his second of the game for a 6-2 score at the final whistle.

Serbian White Eagles improve to 3-1-3 WLT FOR 12 points to move back to fourth position in the standings, while CSC Mississauga are at 0-6-2 for two points in eighth position.

WORLD CUP MATCH OFFICIAL JOE FLETCHER SERVED THE CSL WELL

It’s not too many moons ago that Joe Fletcher ran the line in games at Centennial Stadium in Etobicoke and other grounds on the Canadian Soccer League circuit and even earlier when the St. Catharines resident was an Assistant Referee in Niagara Falls where he grew up as a teenager.

Known as a speedy player, Joe Fletcher took to officiating in soccer and was eventually noticed by CSL referee-in-chief Tony Camacho who offered the Niagara Falls teenager an opportunity to run the line in a nearby St. Catharines Roma Wolves home game at the Club Roma Stadium on Vansickle Road.

Joe Fletcher is still running the line, but now in view of billions of soccer fans from around the world, the estimated TV audience watching the World Cup in Russia. Fletcher was Assistant Referee for the England vs Colombia World Cup match in Moscow on July 3, his second World Cup assignment after being selected to the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

Fletcher spent eight years in the CSL before progressing to Major League Soccer followed by key games in CONCACAF and other international matches after being awarded the FIFA badge in 2007. He was on the line for the FIFA U-20 World Cup Canada 2007 and soccer matches at the Olympic Games in London in 2012.

CSL GAMES THIS WEEKEND

Games in the Canadian Soccer League resume this weekend, beginning with a Friday clash in the First Division between CSC Mississauga and Serbian White Eagles at the Iceland Field, a 9 pm kickoff, followed by two games on Saturday when Hamilton City hosts Real Mississauga at Heritage Field, a 6.30 pm start and at the same location it’s Brantford Galaxy vs FC Ukraine United at 8.30 pm.

There are two games in the CSL Second Division over the weekend with Halton United B hosting Scarborough SC B at Norton Park on Saturday, an 8 pm kickoff, and one game on Sunday when the Serbian White Eagles B team is away to FC Vorkuta B at St. Roberts, a 3:30 pm start.

SCARBOROUGH 3-2 VICTORY SNAPS FC VORKUTA UNBEATEN STREAK  

 

 

FC Vorkuta suffered its first defeat of the season, a 3-2 loss to Scarborough SC in the only First Division match played in the Canadian Soccer League Sunday.

Scarborough’s Kavin Bryan scored twice to lead the home side to its fifth victory of the season. The first goal came early when Bryan was unmarked to tap the ball into the corner from close range, a 1-0 Scarborough lead at 5 minutes and Bryan struck his second goal on a counter attack, collecting a pass before closing in on a one-on-one with Vorkuta goalkeeper Oleksandr Musiienko, a 2-0 score at the 18 minute mark.

FC Vorkuta then scored with a powerful drive by Mykhailo Riabyi which left Scarborough goalkeeper John Trye with little chance before the ball entered the top corner of the net for a 2-1 lead at 25 minutes in favor of Scarborough.

Atif Hammud Ali of Scarborough made it 3-1 at 33 minutes and at 38 minutes Vorkuta reduced the lead to 3-2, a goal by Bohdan Riabets who headed in from a corner kick and it was 3-2 at the break.

Vorkuta pressed for an equalizer in the second half, but Trye saved on several opportunities including a penalty kick awarded to the visitors and taken by midfielder Oleh Kerchu.

Vorkuta continue to lead the CSL First Division despite the loss. They have a 6-1-1WLT record for 19 points, while Scarborough move into a tie for second with FC Ukraine United,  a 5-2-1 record for Scarborough, both teams have 16 points.

There was one CSL Second Division match played Sunday when FC Vorkuta B controlled Milton SC B by a 8-0 score, Surhii Melnyk striking 4 goals in that game, and the one CSL First Division match between SC Waterloo and Serbian White Eagles scheduled for Saturday night was suspended during the first half by the referee for discipline reasons on the field of play. The league is assessing the match.

UKRAINE UNITED AND HAMILTON CITY SCORE VICTORIES FRIDAY

 

 

FC Ukraine United came back from a 2-0 deficit to defeat CSC Mississauga 4-2 and Hamilton City scored a 2-1 victory over Real Mississauga, two games in the Canadian Soccer League First Division Friday night.

Forward Remi Oshin opened the scoring for CSC Mississauga at 29 minutes in the match against Ukraine United at the Iceland Field and Akeem Priestley made it 2-0 three minutes later.

Nazar Milishchuck found the net for Ukraine United to reduce the lead to 2-1  at 34 minutes and Ukraine United’s Roman Datsiuk struck the first of two goals at 45 minutes to even up 2-2, the score at halftime.

Pavlo Lukianets put Ukraine United into a 3-2 lead at the 47 minute mark, tapping the ball into the net from a rebound off the crossbar. A send-off followed when CSC Mississauga’s player was shown the red card after retaliating from an untidy tackle and Datsiuk then secured the victory with his second goal at 74 minutes, a 4-2 result at the final whistle.

FC Ukraine United improve to a 5-2-1WLT record for 16 points and second in the standings, while CSC Mississauga are at 0-5-2 for two points in eighth position in the table.

Visiting Hamilton City were up 2-0 at halftime against Real Mississauga at the Hershey Center, goals coming from midfielder Lucas Raposo who beat Mississauga goalkeeper Senad Poracanin with a left foot drive from 12 yards inside the right post just 4 minutes into the game, to be followed by Joe Willingham who took a pass from the left wing to drive the ball under the bar from 10 yards, the goal coming at the 39 minute mark.

Real Mississauga defender Edmond Badal came close to scoring for the home side, heading just wide at 44 minutes. It was 2-0 at the break.

Hamilton City were reduced to 10 men during the second half when midfielder Kristian Puljic was shown the red card following a second caution and Real Mississauga defender Juan Dominguez reduced the lead to 2-1 at 87 minutes, the score at the final whistle.

Hamilton City improve to 3-3-0 for 9 points and tied for fourth position in the standings, while Real Mississauga are at 0-2-1 for one point in ninth position.

There are two First Division games remaining over the weekend when on Saturday SC Waterloo hosts Serbian White Eagles at RIM Park, Waterloo, a 6.30 pm kickoff and on Sunday  FC Vorkuta visits  Birchmount Stadium for a clash with Scarborough SC, an 8 pm kickoff
