Brampton City Utd made sure of their playoff position with a 2-0 victory over London City at The Cove in London, the only game played in the Canadian Soccer League Wednesday night.
Brampton opened the scoring on a goal at the 14th minute by Judah Hernandez, he drove the ball from inside the 18 yard line to catch the top corner out of reach of London goalkeeper Fabian Knezevic.
London came close to scoring in the first half, but there were no further goals and it was 1-0 at half-time.
Brampton scored a second goal at 52 minutes when Marcos Nunes drove the ball between defenders to catch the bottom left corner and London City missed an opportunity to reduce the lead when awarded a penalty at 91 minutes called by referee Manuel Orellana for hand ball in the box.
Gentjan Buzali took the spot kick which was saved by Brampton ‘keeper Kodzo Awitor and it was 2-0 at the final whistle.
Seven teams have now secured a berth in the post season playoffs leading to the CSL Championship to be played at the
end of October. They are: SC Toronto, Toronto Croatia, Capital City FC, York Region Shooters, Serbian White Eagles,
Montreal Impact Academy and Brampton City Utd.
There is one more spot to be decided and Mississauga Eagles FC, Brantford Galaxy and TFC Academy are in the
running.
There were two games in the CSL Second Division Wednesday, SC Toronto B defeated North York Astros B 3-1 and
Mississauga Eagles FC B scored a 4-1 victory over St. Catharines Wolves B.
