KINGSTON NOTCH FIRST VICTORY, TFC AND TORONTO CROATIA DOMINATE…the Astros and Shooters play to scoreless tie

Kingston FC gained their first victory in the CSL First Division in a close encounter at Brampton, North York Astros and York Region Shooters played to a scoreless tie, while TFC Academy and Toronto Croatia both scored decisive wins, four games in the CSL Sunday.

 

It was an end-to-end encounter at Victoria Park in Brampton where Kingston FC took the lead from the penalty spot over Brampton City Utd at 28 minutes following a shirt-pulling incident inside the box. Forward Antonios Assaad fired into the net past Brampton goalkeeper Jason Lopes.

 

Brampton midfielder David Velastagui put the home side on equal terms at 55 minutes, but Kingston regained the lead just one minute later when Assaad scored his second for a 2-1 score.

 

Following good play by both sides, Mademba Ba struck a third Kingston goal at 86 minutes for a 3-1 lead by the visitors and three minutes later Brampton’s David Guzman reduced the lead to 3-2 from the penalty spot following a foul inside the 18 yard line. The game ended 3-2.

 

In the game at Downsview Park, TFC Academy midfielder Mario Orestano opened the scoring at the 27th minute mark against a depleted London City side missing key players on their injured list – he found the net past London ‘keeper Zoran Pusica.

 

TFC defender Deon Rose made it 2-0 six minutes later and three minutes later at the 36th minute mark, Toronto midfielder Omari Morris increased the lead to 3-0.

 

TFC’s Ryan James made it 4-0 at 66 minutes, and the home side’s Marko Miketic increased the lead to 5-0 at 72 minutes.

 

Miketic scored his second and the academy team’s sixth goal at 86 minutes, he put the ball past London’s substitute goalkeeper Scott Chalmers and it remained 6-0 to the final whistle.

 

Toronto Croatia dominated in almost every department as the game wore on against SC Waterloo at Centennial Stadium in Toronto’s west-end and it started when midfielder Hayden Fitzwilliams scored for the home side after 18 minutes to make it 1-0.

 

SC Waterloo drew level just one minute later, a goal by forward Shawn Brown, but at 26 minutes Croatia’s Tihomir Maletic struck from the penalty spot after being brought down in the box.

Josip Keran increased the lead to 3-1 for Toronto Croatia at 34 minutes, the score at half-time after Drazen Vukovic missed a penalty kick for SC

Waterloo.

 

Toronto Croatia midfielder Marin Vucemilovic Grgic then struck twice, the first at 72 minutes and again six minutes later for a 5-1 home lead and Maletic rounded out the scoring at 80 minutes, a 6-1 final.

 

It was a well-played scoreless encounter at Esther Shiner Stadium in North York where the Astros and York Region Shooters both came close to scoring despite a game played mostly in midfield.

 

North York goalkeeper Antal Toth made key saves late in the game and the game ended 0-0.

 

There was one game in the CSL Second Division Sunday when Brampton City Utd B defeated Kingston FC B by a score of 13-0.
