MISSISSAUGA EAGLES HELD TO 1-1 TIE AT HOME TO WINDSOR STARS SATURDAY

Mississauga Eagles FC were held to a 1-1 tie by Windsor Stars at the Hershey Centre Saturday night, a disappointing result for the home side bidding to capture a spot in the Canadian Soccer League playoffs to begin early October.

It was the only game in the CSL First Division Saturday and midfielder David Kadoic  opened the scoring for the visitors at the 15 minute mark, he beat Mississauga goalkeeper Melford James Jr from just inside the 6-yard line for the 1-0 lead.

It was a hard fought contest through to the end of the first half which ended 1-0 and into the second half when eventually at 78 minutes Mohammed Habibzi struck for Mississauga off a corner kick into the top corner on the short side, beating goalkeeper Anthony Santilli.

With the game still in the balance, the Eagles lost midfielder Ivan Juric when he was given a second caution and red card by referee Richard Oliveira at 84 minutes. The game ended 1-1 and Mississauga Eagles improve to a 9-8-2 WLT record for 29 points with an opportunity to secure a playoff berth, while Windsor Stars have an up hill climb to make  the playoffs with just 11 points from 17 games
