Montreal Impact Academy picked up three points with an important 3-1 win over North York Astros, while SC Toronto and Capital City FC battled to a scoreless tie and in one other game played in the CSL Saturday, the Windsor Stars vs. Serbian White Eagles game was abandoned at 39 minutes due to lightning and the game will be replayed.
Serge Dinkota opened the scoring for Montreal Impact Academy at the 23rd minute mark at Esther Shiner Stadium, but North York forward Nordo Gooden tied the score 1-1 six minutes later and it was 1-1 at half-time.
Riggi’s goals were both outstanding drives from outside the penalty box which left Astros’ goalkeeper Enea Perego with little chance.
SC Toronto and Capital City FC fought throughout in a game that ended scoreless at Lamport Stadium.
In one other game played in the CSL Saturday, the Windsor Stars vs Serbian White Eagles clash at Windsor Stadium was abandoned at 39 minutes by referee Angelo Gertsakis when lightning in the area persisted with little opportunity to abate.
The visitors were leading 1-0 on a goal by Milos Scepanovic at the time of the abandonment, but due to the first half not being completed, the game will be replayed at a later date.
