SC TORONTO ON TOP WITH 4-0 VICTORY WHILE SERBIAN EAGLES DEFEAT BRAMPTON CITY UTD 3-1 Capital City FC vs. TFC Academy off

SC Toronto scored an emphatic 4-0 victory over North York Astros to jump to the top of the CSL First Division and in one other game played in the CSL Friday night, Serbian White Eagles defeated Brampton City Utd 3-1. There was one game postponed, the Capital City FC home encounter with TFC Academy was called off due to a waterlogged surface following heavy rains in Ottawa.

 

It was SC Toronto’s second win in three days following a 2-0 away triumph at St. Catharines Wednesday night and the Toronto side opened the scoring against the Astros at Lamport Stadium with a goal after 30 minutes by midfielder Dane Roberts for a 1-0 score at the interval.

 

Roberts struck again at 52 minutes when he beat North York goalkeeper Enea Perego to make it 2-0 and 12 minutes later Brennan McNicoll increased the SC Toronto lead to 3-0.

 

Raphael Nisci completed the scoring for the Toronto west-end side when his drive entered the net to the right of Perego, a 4-0 score at 90 minutes and that was the final result.

 

SC Toronto are enjoying a good run of success under the Head Coach Carmine Isacco and the team’s next game is against Brantford Galaxy at Lamport Stadium on Canada Day, July 1.

 

Serbian White Eagles also looked strong in their home encounter with Brampton City Utd at Centennial Stadium and following some early misses the home side took the lead on a goal at 4 minutes by Kiril Dimitrov following a good play be Alex Braletic and Milos Scepanovic.

 

 Brampton tied the score 1-1 on a penalty kick scored by Denny Velastegui at 26 minutes after Eagles’ goalkeeper Milos Djurkovic misjudged a long ball to foul the Brampton forward inside the 18 yard line. The incident resulted in Djurkovic being red-carded by referee John Oliva and substitute goalkeeper Stefan Aramovic faled to stop the shot from the spot by Velastegui.

 

Brampton forward Daniel Nascimento was sent off by referee Oliva at 38 minutes following a second caution for dissent.

 

Forward Alex Braletic struck at 59 minutes to put Serbian White Eagles ahead 2-1 and at the 85^th minute mark Scepanovic increased the Serbian lead to 3-1 following a good move by Sasa Viciknez.

 

Serbian White Eagles will now meet Mississauga Eagles FC at the Hershey Centre on Sunday, July 3.

 

One other match in the Canadian Soccer League Friday night was postponed when heavy rains flooded the ground at the Terry Fox Facility Centre in Ottawa. An attempt will be made to play the Capital City vs.TFC Acaemy game the next day, Saturday, June 25 at 1 pm
