SHOOTERS MAKE HEADWAY WITH 1-0 VICTORY WHILE MISSISSAUGA VS. TFC ACADEMY GO SCORELESS…London’s Dalibor Mitrovic the winner

York Region Shooters defeated league-leading SC Toronto 1-0, London City came from behind to down SC Waterloo 2-1 and TFC Academy battled to a scoreless tie in their game with Mississauga Eagles, three games in the CSL First Division Friday night.

Defender Fitzroy Christey scored a late goal and a big one for York Region Shooters at Lamport Stadium in Toronto’s west-end, it came at the 86th minute when Christey moved upfield to head past SC Toronto goalkeeper Adrian Ivanez  off a corner kick and a deflection before it entered the net.

The win moved the Shooters closer to the top, they now have a 8-1-8 WLT record for 32 points and tied for second position with Toronto Croatia, while SC Toronto are still on top with a 10-2-4 record for 34 points.

The scoreless tie between Mississauga Eagles FC and TFC Academy at the Hershey Centre in Mississauga improves the Eagles to a 7-6-3 record, good for 24 points and within striking distance of the top in seventh position, while TFC Academy are third in the standings with a 9-3-3 record for 30 points.

Forward Dalibor Mitrovic came on as a second half substitute to play a big part in bringing London City from a 1-0 deficit to a 2-1 victory at Cove Road in London. SC Waterloo forward Mohammed Ali Heydarpour opened the scoring for the visitors following a scoreless first half, he found the net at the 60th minute, a 1-0 lead.

Seven minutes later Mitrovic crossed the ball for Nenad Nikolic to find the net past Waterloo goalkeeper Imad Hakura to tie the game 1-1 and Mitrovic banged in the winner from just inside the box at the 75th minute mark for a 2-1 lead that held to the final whistle.

The win moves London City to 11th position with a 5-6-6 record for 21 points, while SC Waterloo are in 12th position with a 6-9-0 record for 18points.
