It was a close encounter in the early stages of the TFC vs. Astros game at
Nikola Paunic struck the winner at 59 minutes and while the Academy had a decided edge in the play, the visitors had late opportunities to tie the game which ended 2-1 in favour of TFC.
SC Toronto were outstanding in the 5-1 victory over Mississauga Eagles FC at Lamport Stadium. It was Brennan McNicoll who opened the scoring for
Forward Jarek Whiteman then struck twice for the home side, at 51 minutes – on a penalty kick following a tripping incident in the box – and 59 minutes to increase his tally to 11 for the season.
Defender Gerard Ladilou made it 4-1 for SC Toronto at 66 minutes, then Brennan McNicoll scored his second and SC Toronto’s fifth at 77 minutes for a 5-1 score, the result at the final whistle.
SC Toronto now have a 7-1-3 record for 24 points and second place in the standings, while Mississauga Eagles FC are at 4-6-2 and 14 points.
