WINDSOR STARS DEFEAT WATERLOO 3-1, TWO GAMES TIE…..Shooters, TFC and Windsor clinch playoff berths

Windsor Stars continued their relentless move up the standings with a 3-1 victory over SC Waterloo, Serbian White Eagles and TFC Academy fought to a 2-2 tie and in one other game played in the CSL Friday night, London City and Mississauga Eagles also tied 2-2.


 


Midfielder Wade Allen opened the scoring for Windsor Stars at Windsor Stadium, he found the net past Waterloo goalkeeper Imad Hakura at the 29th minute mark, but Waterloo tied 1-1 on a goal by forward Adis Hasecic six minutes later.


 


Midfielder Keith Lough put the home side ahead 2-1 at 75 minutes and Stephen Ademolu made it 3-1 for Windsor at 84 minutes, the final score.


 


Windsor Stars have secured a playoff berth as a result of Friday’s victory, which lifted the border team into a tie for third place with their improved 11-5-4 WTL record for 37 points.


 


TFC Academy opened the scoring at Centennial Stadium in Etobicoke when Nikola Paunic scored at the 40th minute off a free kick taken on the edge of the box and it was 1-0 at half-time.


 


Midfielder Djordjije Strunjas equalized for Serbian White Eagles, he took a pass from Kirie Dimitrov find the net, a 1-1 score at the 49th minute mark.


 


Zoran Rajovic of Serbian White Eagles hit the post with a shot at 79 minutes, but found the net five minutes later to put the home side into a 2-1 lead.


 


TFC tied the score at 90 minutes, a goal by Mario Orestano – it was 2-2 at the final whistle.


 


TFC Academy now have a 10-4-5 record for 35 points and clinch a playoff spot, while Serbian White Eagles are at 8-7-5 for 29 points.


 


Laudelino Jose De Sousa opened the scoring for Mississauga Eagles FC in their game with London City at Cove Road in London, he struck at 14 minutes for a 1-0 lead at the break.


 


Boban Stojanovic tied the game 1-1 for London City at the 60th minute mark, but Thomas McLean made it 2-1 for the visitors five minutes later.


 


Zvonko Bakula tied the game for London City at 89 minutes, a volley that left Mississauga goalkeeper Varun Singh with no chance and the game ended 2-2.


 


London City improve to 6-8-7 with 25 points, while Mississauga are at 7-7-5 for 26 points.


 


York Region Shooters – idle tonight – together with TFC Academy and Windsor Stars have all secured playoff spots as a result of Friday’s results. They join Toronto Croatia and SC Toronto, leaving three more teams to make the top eight in the CSL Championship playoffs that get underway with the quarterfinals mid-October.


 


There was one game played in the CSL Second Division Thursday, it was


SC Waterloo B 4, Brantford Galaxy B 4.
