Serbian White Eagles will be climbing a mountain on September 20 and in earlier times it would be no surprise if the team that once dominated the CSL for several seasons in both performance and attendance, could rally and stand a chance of catching up in the second match of the two-games total aggregate CSL Championship Final. The first game at Esther Shiner Stadium on Saturday ended 4-0 in favour of Scarborough.
Just a decade ago, the White Eagles became the second club in CSL history to reach the CSL Championship final in four consecutive seasons, winning a championship and three regular season titles at the same time.
Games between Serbian White Eagles and Scarborough are always attractive and low scoring, such as the 2025 1-0 championship final, and when Scarborough midfielder Mishel Vissuet opened the scoring at 28 minutes on Saturday, a tap in from at close range, another low-scoring encounter was expected. But was 1-0 at the break and deep into the second half the east Toronto team struck with three late goals. Scarborough forward Everton Santana made it 2-0 at 73 minutes and midfielder Andy Baquero struck at 82 and 90 minutes for a 4-0 score at the final whistle.
Scarborough and Serbian White Eagles return to Esther Shiner Stadium on Sunday, September 20 for a 2 pm kickoff second leg of the two-game total aggregate final.
