CSC MISSISSAUGA B, HAMILTON CITY B ADVANCE IN SECOND DIVISION PLAYOFFS….Playoffs Update

CSC Mississauga B and Hamilton City B advanced to the semifinals of the Second Division Championship following wins in the quarterfinals played Tuesday night.

CSC Mississauga B scored a narrow 1-0 victory over Brantford Galaxy B at the Hershey Centre in Mississauga, while at the same time Hamilton City B defeated Kingsman B by a 3-2 score at Esther Shiner Stadium in North York.

All six teams entered the Second Division post season playoffs with the two top teams in the final regular season standings, FC Vorkuta B and Serbian White Eagles B gaining a bye to the semifinals.

Forward Matthaus Garcia struck the winner early in the second half for the CSC Mississauga reserve side, a free kick from 35 yards that found the net past Galaxy goalkeeper Ognjeh Savic. There were several strong end-to-end attacks by both sides for the remainder of the second half, but the 1-0 score held to the final whistle.

Hamilton City reserves took a 3-0 lead in the second quarterfinal, the opening goal scored by Arsen Piatisat at 30 minutes for a 1-0 score at the break.  Marco Serlez increased the Hamilton lead to 2-0 at 50 minutes and Iliga Bajcatic to 3-0 at 70 minutes. Sergly Pitel found the net twice for Kingsman reserves at 75 and 85 minutes, a 3-2 result in favour of Hamilton.

FC Vorkuta B will host Hamilton City B and Serbian White Eagles B will be at home to visiting CSC Mississauga B in the second semifinal.

The CSL Championship Final and CSL Second Division Championship Final will be played at Centennial Stadium in Etobicoke on Saturday, October 26. The Second Division Championship will kick off at 1 pm, followed by the CSL Championship at 3 pm.
