RICHARD WEST HAT-TRICK TOO MUCH FOR WATERLOO…Shooters, London, Brampton win Sunday

A hat-trick by York Region’s Richard West was too much for SC Waterloo in a 4-1 victory, London City defeated Toronto Atomic FC 3-1, and a penalty kick decided a 2-1 Brampton City Utd victory over Brantford Galaxy, three games in the CSL First Division Sunday.

Striker Richard West opened the scoring for York Region Shooters at the 3 minute mark in the game at the St. Joan of Arc ground at Maple, and West scored a second at 36 minutes for a 2-0 lead for the home side at the break.

West completed his hat-trick at 47 minutes, tapping into the net past Waterloo goalkeeper Imad Hakura for a 3-0 lead at the 47th minute mark. It was goal number 8 for Richard West so far this season.

Shezan Singh made it 4-0 for York Region Shooters at 78 minutes, and Adis Hasecic found the net for Waterloo when he beat York Region goalkeeper Adrian Ibanez with a drive down the middle from just inside the box for a 4-1 score at 93 minutes, the score at the final whistle.

York Region Shooters now have a 5-5-0 WLT record for 15 points, while SC Waterloo are at 7-3-1 for 22 points in the standings.

London City gained their third win of the season and it was Aldin Kukic who scored from the penalty spot against Toronto Atomic FC for a 1-0 lead at the 12 minute mark.

Edin Kozica of London city then scored twice, at 15 and 32 minutes to give the home side a commanding 3-0 lead at half-time.

Midfielder Mykhailo Basarab scored for Toronto Atomic to reduce the lead to 3-1, he beat London goalkeeper Vladimir Markotic at 87 minutes, the score at the final whistle.

London City improve to 3-6-1 for 10 points in the standings, while Toronto Atomic are at 5-6-2 for 17 points.

Brandon Simoes gave visiting Brampton City Utd a 1-0 lead at the 16 minute mark against Brantford Galaxy at Lions Park in Brantford, and the league-leading goalscorer Zdenko Jurcevic tied the game for the Galaxy at the 35 minute mark. It was Jurcevic’s 15 goal of the season.

Following a 1-1 score at the break, a penalty kick decided the game when referee Tony Amaral pointed to the spot following a shirt-tugging incident in the Brantford penalty area and Brampton goalkeeper Cristian Benicio Montero Valez scored from the spot at the 65 minute mark. It was 2-1 at the final whistle.

In the CSL Second Division early game, Brantford Galaxy B defeated Brampton City Utd B 3-2.
