SC WATERLOO KEEP PACE WITH 2-1 VICTORY SATURDAY

SC Waterloo kept pace near the top of the CSL First Division with a 2-1 defeat of Niagara United at the Kalar Sports Park, Niagara Falls, the only First Division game in the Canadian Soccer League Saturday night.

Niagara were off on the right foot early, a goal almost directly from the kickoff when Jordi Amores found the net in the first minute past Waterloo goalkeeper Imad Hakura.

Waterloo midfielder Adis Hasecic tied the game 1-1 at 29 minutes, driving the ball past Niagara goalkeeper Matthew Greco from the penalty spot and it was 1-1 at the break.

It was an own goal that gave the visitors a 2-1 victory at 75 minutes, the ball entering the Niagara net following an attempted clearance from a Waterloo corner kick.

SC Waterloo improve to a 7-2-1 WLT record for 22 points so far this season and are in second position in the standings, within two points of top club Serbian White Eagles.

Niagara United are at 1-8-2 for 5 points.

There was one game played in the CSL Second Division Saturday when SC Waterloo B beat Niagara United B, 4-1.
