MONTREAL ACADEMY IN CONTENTION WITH 3-0 VICTORY…Kingston defeat Astros 2-1

Montreal Impact Academy scored their ninth victory of the season, a 3-0 defeat of Niagara United, while Kingston FC scored a narrow 2-1 victory over North York Astros, two games in the Canadian Soccer League Saturday night.

 

Jeremy Gagnon-Lapare opened the scoring for Montreal Academy at the 13th minute at the Kalar Park in Niagara Falls, he collected a cross to beat Niagara goalkeeper John De Luca from close in.

 

Mircea Ilcu increased the lead to 2-0 at 35 minutes and Zakaris Messoudi completed the scoring, a 3-0 final

 

Niagara’s Tony Marmigas was shown the red card by referee Hassane Rifai at the 80th minute after receiving a second caution.

 

Montreal Impact Academy are very much in contention for a playoff spot with an improved 9-3-5 WLT record for 32 points in fifth position and five games remaining in the regular campaign, while Niagara United have a 7-9-3 record for 24 points and involved in a 3-way tie for 11th position in the standings.

 

Midfielder Jordan Brooks opened the scoring for Kingston FC against North York Astros at the CaraCo Home Field at the Invista Centre in Kingston, he found the net with a low drive at the 14th minute mark and Vitaliy Sidorov made it 2-0 just before the break.

 

The Astros pressed the Kingston defence to get back into the game and eventually broke through at the 86th minute on a goal by Vasileios Liagkos who found the net past Kingston goalkeeper Shane Lopez, a 2-1 final score.

 

Kingston FC has a 3-15-1 record for 10 points, while North York Astros are at the foot of the table with a 2-17-1 record for 7 points.
